Between collisions, an electron accelerates opposite to the electric field. Its random thermal velocity may initially have any direction, so the actual microscopic path between successive collisions is generally not a single straight drift path. The net electron drift is opposite to the electric field, i.e. from lower potential toward higher potential. Hence option B follows.
